I am so grateful to be awarded so many awards over the years!

To think you just do your work to achieve a better goal is enough, but to be recognised is so humbling. Receiving my OBE was one of the surprises l will never forget, l remember the day like yesterday when l was sat at my desk and received a letter asking if l would accept the honour, that alone was an honour , and when the queen was awarding me with my OBE was the icing on the cake .

My doctorate was also another beautiful surprise, l felt like miss world receiving this from Manchester university which is a mile from where l was born.
